Celebrating The Trades

Here at Grappone Automotive, we have long been committed to supporting our community and the people who positively impact it. One of our focuses has been working with our New Hampshire community and partners to help Bring the Trades back. To help introduce the automotive industry to high school students, we are partnered with Pinkerton Academy to give students a chance to experience what a career in this trade would entail.

As part of our Student Mentorship program, Robert sat down with us to share what he learned from the hands-on experience with one of our Grappone Toyota technicians. While he feels right at home in an automotive shop, he appreciates that this program allows students to “go and see these people working every day and experience…what they do… instead of spending a lot of money [and] realizing you don’t like it. You get a couple of weeks to experience it all, which is great.”

For local community college students like Mitch, our shops partner with schools for semester-long internships that allow the students to get hands-on experience in the shop with industry professionals. Mitch found that having “the opportunity to be in the shop, and spend time with industry professionals, allows you to be yourself and learn from observing and participating.” Shortly after being paired with Grappone Honda for his internship, Mitch showcased a hard work ethic paired with an initiative to learn, and he was offered a job as a technician once his school year completes.

As a business, Grappone Automotive would not be nearly as successful without having a service department available to assist our guests with any issues that may arise during car ownership. But as we have said before, Grappone Automotive is more than just a business. We are successful because of our guests, team members, and community. Through our partnership with local high schools and community colleges, we are working to renew interest in the trades as well as introduce new career paths to local students because we know that giving back will continue to help the industry move forward.
