Grappone Automotive: The Founding – A Story of Beginnings and Resilience
Amanda Grappone Osmer’s “Grappone Automotive: The Founding” – A Story of Beginnings and Resilience
We’re excited to share that Amanda Grappone Osmer has published her first book, Grappone Automotive: The Founding! This captivating story offers a glimpse into the early days of the Grappone and D’Orlando families, their journey to New Hampshire, and the origins of the Grappone Automotive Group.
Set in the late 1800s, The Founding follows the Grappones and D’Orlandos as they navigate challenges in southern Italy—grinding poverty, disease, and the hope for a better future. Their decision to immigrate to America set the stage for a new chapter in New Hampshire, where Rocco Grappone and Emanuela D’Orlando opened a small filling station during the 1920s automobile boom.
Through Amanda’s words, readers will discover how their perseverance and values planted the seeds for what would eventually grow into Grappone Automotive Group. While the book focuses on these formative years, it beautifully reflects the enduring principles of resilience, community, and family that still guide Grappone today.
We invite you to explore this inspiring story by purchasing Grappone Automotive: The Founding at Gibson’s Bookstore. Whether you’re drawn to stories of immigrant families or want to learn more about the roots of Grappone Automotive, Amanda’s heartfelt narrative will resonate with readers.

Amanda,
Congratulations on the book!! Wish I could get a copy of it down here.
Hello Amanda,
I simply had to write to tell you how much I enjoyed your book telling the story of your families journey to, and in this country.
A few weeks ago I was sitting in your Honda dealership waiting for my car to be serviced, saw your book on the counter and was intrigued enough to buy it. By the way, your service team is exceptional. While not the purpose of this letter, I made the mistake of buying my present Honda down the river a bit. I was very disappointed in this dealer and Honda USA as well. We have purchased a number of Hondas, Fords, Toyotas, and one Mazda over the years – so I’m back!
Back to the book – as you no doubt realize, History is most often written about important world events, and the lives of the famous, the infamous and the wealthy. So its always refreshing to read about the “ordinary” people who helped build the America of today.
I am so impressed with your writing abilities in this tale of the Grappone Family, and especially how you’ve infused it with feeling, humor, and your businesses history of valuing its greatest asset – its people. I look forward to your next book. Thank you
